Jenny Hval has announced the release of her new album Blood Bitch with the first single, ‘Female Vampire’, streaming above right now.
Hval describes the album thusly: “Blood Bitch is an investigation of blood. Blood that is shed naturally. The purest and most powerful, yet most trivial, and most terrifying blood: Menstruation. The white and red toilet roll chain which ties together the virgins, the whores, the mothers, the witches, the dreamers, and the lovers.”
Describing it as her “most fictional and most personal abum, Hval says it is the first record on which she has started reconnecting with the goth and metail scene that she was part of many years ago, particularly referencing “the drony qualities of Norwegian Black Metal”. The album is out on September 30 via Sacred Bones and follows on from 2015’s Apocalypse, Girl.
