As Quietus readers will know, we’ve been rather vocal critics of James Blake’s debut album, branding it the leading release of the Blubstep Jim scene that also features Jamie XX and Jamie Woon. Perhaps, though, we ought doff our caps to Blake – is he using the singer songwriter material to make a vast pile of dough to support the more interesting music that first got us very excited about his emergence the other year? Blake has returned to the Hemlock label, which released 2009’s Air & Lack Thereof EP, for his new AA single ‘Order’ backed with ‘Pan’. You can listen to the two brooding, excellent tracks over at Pitchfork.
