Gnod share title track from forthcoming new album; listen to it below

With a new album set for release at the start of April, Gnod have shared the title track in the form of ‘The Mirror’ – you can check it out above.

The new album follows on from 2015’s triple-album Infinity Machines and promises a "back-to-basics approach" swapping out the beat-driven focus of much of their recent work for a "stark, kinetic and intimidating sound" as can be heard in the sprawling piece above.

"The tracks were pretty much written on the road in May 2015," says Gnod’s Paddy Shine. "The final versions of the tracks on the album are a reaction to the results of the recent UK election also some shit that was happening to us and our friends during that period. Lyrically it deals with mental health issues and how things like social media are like a vehicle for our split personalities and egos – that and being under the thumb of forces and power structures we can’t really fully understand, or even if we understand them we feel helpless to change the situation. This album won’t change the situation or start any revolutions but it felt good for us to write some music to let the rage out."

Gnod tour the UK in April and you can get tickets for the shows here. The album is out on Rocket on April 1.
