Following on from her stellar debut album LP1 last year, FKA twigs has unveiled new track ‘Figure 8’ from her forthcoming, as-yet-untitled new EP, which is available to listen to alongside the full interview above.
The song was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show last night (August 3rd). Speaking to Lowe via a phone interview, twigs said that the song was inspired by voguing lessons in New York and feeling that “at any minute everything in my life could just completely fall apart”. Having just finished an extensive American tour which ended with a set at Lollapalooza, fans will have already heard ‘Figure 8’ incorporated into Twigs’ live set, but the recorded version of the track is composed of dark, powerful synths, sparse passages and circling vocal cuts. ‘Figure 8’ is the second track to be released from the upcoming EP and follows ‘Glass and Patron’, which you can listen to below.
