With their debut release on the Quietus Phonographic Corporation mere days away, Chrononautz have stepped up to the plate for the 383rd instalment of the Electronic Explorations mix series and you can give it a listen above.

This rich mix is described by the duo as “a rare occasion for us to share some of the music we listen to”, and demonstrates the depth and breadth of their musical knowledge. Beginning with the spoken word story of Mat Dryhurst’s ‘MINE: Chapter 1’, it gradually segues into a selection of techno oscillating between the immersive and the minimal, incorporating a range of artists. Indeed, the mix is incredibly varied, including the likes of Claus Poulsen, Demonic Glare, Deerman, HDMZ and Brian Eno.

The mix shows the large extent to which Dom Clare and Leon Carey are in touch with the music scene of their hometown as they clearly exhibit a predilection for bringing lesser known artists to a wider audience. On this note, the pair remark that: ‘We’ve found a lot of younger artists starting up in and around Leeds; I think we recognise some of the punk fire in their bellies from when we were the same age”. If this mix does one thing then, it’s to show the pair’s enthusiasm for the music scene they are so much a part of, treating us to “some more reclusive artists, the kind of people who never tell you they make music but just get on with making nuts shit”.

Chrononautz release Noments via tQPC on Sunday in both digital and limited 12" formats and you can read more of the interview and check the full tracklist over at Electronic Explorations. There’s an LP launch gig with Hirvilokari and Sly & The Family Drone too at Cafe Oto on August 3rd, tickets for which can be found here.
