This weekend, Cairo Liberation Front bring their raucous, Electro Chaabi energy to Athens’ Plissken Festival and they have put together a special mix as a preview to their appearance at the festival, which you can check out above.
The show will mark Cairo Liberation Front’s first appearance in Greece. “It’s an honour that we’ll make our live debut this weekend in Greece by playing by far at one of the coolest festivals we’ve played so far,” said the group. “With this mix we tried to combine two of the most relevant youth cultures nowadays: from the grime revival sound of London to the thrilling electro-cha3bi scene from Cairo. Both scene have crazy lyricists (From Egypt, Sadat & Fifty, from the UK for instance, The Square) and innovative producers who’re taking their genre even further.” Appearing alongside a selection of other top names of electronic music, including Andy Stott and Evian Christ, they said “we started Cairo Liberation Front two years ago because we thought electro-cha3bi is just as exciting as most electronic music that is getting released right now and it’s even as raw as the punk bands that we were listening to.” Full details for this year’s Plissken Festival can be found here.
