Bobby Krlic is better known to a lot of people as The Haxan Cloak having release a number of enthralling, menacing past efforts with Tri Angle Records. That project has been on hold for some time with new work promised in the future, but meanwhile he has contributed to the score for an upcoming documentary alongside Atticus Ross and Leopold Ross.
The track above from Krlic, entitled ‘The End’ rather fittingly closes out the film which is called Almost Holy. The full soundtrack is set for release on August 19, as well as the film, with the film itself following the story a pastor named Gennadiy Mokhnenko, who saves street kids and brings them to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The film, directed by Steve Hoover, charts the poverty and conditions that immediately followed the fall of the Soviet Union.
All the composers initially worked separately on the soundtrack. “The music surfs the line of sound design and operates as a support to the overall arc, rather than specifically tied to the characters," says Atticus Ross of the project. You can pre-order the album, which will be released via Sacred Bones, here.
