Having self-released music on his eponymous A Made Up Sound label since 2009, the producer, also sometimes known as 2562, is bringing the label to a close this year, and will do so with a neat, retrospective compilation taking in the material released across several 12" records as well as a clutch of new material.
One of those new, previously unreleased tracks featured is ‘Bygones’ which is streaming exclusively above. The track is almost nine minutes of propulsive, icy techno, very much in the AMUS vein – a reminder of why he is one of the most widely respected producers in current house and techno, and has been for some time.
“Initially I started it as an outlet to freely release whatever, whenever, but as I went along, the label kind of became a purpose in itself, something I enjoyed building over time. A body of work with a beginning and an end, if you will,” Huismans said when he announced the closure of the label.
“I’ve now done what I wanted to do with the label and it’s a good moment to wrap it up and leave it behind,” he added.
‘Bygones’ is released as the final 12" on the AMUS label, alongside another new track entitled ‘Peace Offering’, on November 4, with a compilation rounding up the label’s history, entitled A Made Up Sound (2009 – 2016), due before that on October 21.
