Laurel Halo is releasing a new EP next week, Spring, under the name King Felix. It marks the inaugural release on Mute’s new Liberation Technologies imprint, and finds Halo’s sound further traveling down the hazy techno paths she was exploring on last year’s excellent Hour Logic EP. It’s something different again from her upcoming album through Hyperdub, Quarantine, and suggests that what we’ve heard from her so far is only the tip of the iceberg. You can stream one of the EP’s tracks, the sunken four-to-the-floor groove of ‘SPRING02’ below. Read our review of the EP here, where we describe the track in question as "painfully short, and all the more so given that its finest moment arrives during its final few seconds when the beat drops away and a human voice emerges, tentatively, from the surrounding mist."
