tQ’s very own Tristan Bath, who valiantly heads up our monthly Spool’s Out column as well as his own radio show of the same name, is launching a new record label, Bezirk, alongside Beachers member Daryl Worthington. Above, you can check out a track from its inaugural release by Kib Elektra. The track is called ‘Din & Drone’.
One of five tracks on the EP, entitled Blemishes, ‘Din & Drone’ sees the London-based producer and multi-instrumentalist turn in four minutes of stirring electronics, sprawling synths and warped vocals. Recorded at her own studio and that of engineer Sam Norland, the EP’s title, she says, “is taken from the most delicate of the five tracks. I don’t use autotune for my vocals, so the EP is full of blemishes. I actually like adding glitches and warbles to roughen the vocals up. The texture can be really interesting.
Blemishes is out on February 29 in limited edition cassette and digital formats. You can pre-order it directly from the label, via Bandcamp, here.
