Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith’s EARS featured among our favourite releases of April of this year with Smith’s processed vocals and synth manipulations creating an outstanding listen, and now she’s set to follow that up on a new collaborative release with synth pioneer Suzanne Ciani. Set to be released as part of RVNG INTL’s FRKWYS series which sees younger experimental musicians teamed with their seniors. Sunergy, set for release on September 13, marks the 13th in the series. Ciani is acclaimed for her work with the Buchla modular synthesiser, an instrument which Smith applied to great effect on the aforementioned EARS. The album was recorded in Ciani’s home overlooking the Pacific Ocean with the pair referencing climate change and Silicon Valley real estate in their motivations behind the recording.
