LISTEN: Hello Skinny (Bass Clef Remix)

Londoner Ralph Cumbers reworks fellow Londoner Tom Skinner; glimmering house madness ensues

London-based drummer Tom Skinner, who has played with (amongst others) Matthew Herbert and Mulatu Astatke, recently released his self-titled debut album as Hello Skinny via Slowfoot Records. A heady and psychedelic brew of jazz, dub, hip-hop and all manner of things in between, it was an intriguing and occasionally excellent listen. You can read our review of the album here.

Now London-based analogue gear freak and cosmic house journeyer Ralph Cumbers, aka Bass Clef, has reworked ‘Knot Blue’ into a gorgeous, glimmering, seven-minute long epic that touches on all aspects of his work. You can clearly hear similarities to this year’s great Reeling Skullways album, but also to the collage-based work he’s released as Coseph Jonrad. Listen to the remix via the embed below.
