In June 2013, composer Charlemagne Palestine played a two-night residency at Hackney’s Cafe Oto at the invitation of Grumbling Fur’s Daniel O’Sullivan. The second night of these two performances took place alongside Grumbling Fur operating under an alter-ego of Time Machine Orchestra, an alias created for them to explore more extended and improvisational composition. That show was captured in a recording and will see a limited LP release next month, via Important Records. You can listen to a five-minute extract of it above.
This marks the first released material of Grumbling Fur under the Time Machine Orchestra guise and is described as “a continuous flow of overtones and plainchant sieved through mutant simulations of processed pulses, orbiting strings and heliotropic vocal mantras.” The recording is assembled by Grumbling Fur and recorded at Cafe Oto and Fur Island. It will be available in an LP run of 500 copies from April 2.
