Edwyn Collins has announced that he will be releasing a new studio album next year.

Understated will be out on March 25 via his own record label AED, and we’ve got a first play of a cut from the LP – have a listen to ‘Too Bad’ below:

Understated will be his eighth studio album, following up 2010’s Losing Sleep, and was produced with long-term collaborator Seb Lewsley. Have a watch of a video – shot by Edward Lovelace and James Hall, who recently produced the documentary about Collins In Your Voice, In Your Heart – of Collins recording in his West Heath studio in London with Lewsley and James Walbourne, collaborator and labelmate:

Following the release of the album, Collins will be setting out on an 11-date tour in support of the record:
