LISTEN: Ectopia On New Wysing Label

Wysing Arts Centre will launch a new label with work from the trio of Ectopia

Wysing Arts Centre will launch their new record label, Wysing Polyphonic, at London’s ICA tomorrow (March 23) with a live performance from Ectopia, the act responsible for the label’s first release, which you can listen to above.

Ectopia is the project of Adam Christensen, Jack Brennan and Viki Steiri, which they formed in 2011 and played as at Wysing’s music festival in 2011. They use vocals, synths and cello across their music, as can be heard in the two pieces above which make up their new release.

Wysing will also build a recording studio at the centre of their new label project, which will open in Cambridge in the summer of this year. The studio will allow Wysing to commission further new works for recording and broadcasting, and provide a hub for friends and associates to create and develop ideas.

Also performing tomorrow night at the ICA for Wysing’s launch are xname, SIREN and N-Prolenta. N-Prolenta has worked with the likes of serpentwithfeet, PTP, NON Worldwide, and Halcyon Veil, pulling together cutting-edge, abrasive club sounds. SIREN are a femme collective who’ve been hosting a series of nights aimed at booking and raising awareness of female and non-binary talent since their first party in early 2016. Finally, xname is Eleonora Oreggia, a London based conceptual electronic artist from Milan, who frequently uses self-built synthesisers in her performances. You can find out more about the event, which kicks off at 8pm, here.
