Nijmegen-based free-jazz duo Dead Neanderthals are set to release their new album Polaris (artwork above) next month, via Utech Records, with production duties handled by Norwegian noise kingpin Lasse Marhaug.

Thought a duo involving a saxophone might have a kind of easy-listening-for-lazy-days sound? Well, take those ideas and bury them deep within the Neanderthals’ saxofoon: this is pure cacophony, madcap, "brick in the face" (to coin the band’s phrase) music recorded in a cave – listen to ‘Plissken’ from the album below:
