After announcing their performance together at Krakow’s Unsound Festival in October, Canadian sound sculptor Tim Hecker and Daniel ‘Oneohtrix Point Never’ Lopatin revealed that they’d been working together on a full collaborative record. Now they’ve released some more details of the record (via Pitchfork), and made a track – ‘Uptown Psychedelia’ – available for online listening. Listen via the YouTube embed below.
Titled Instrumental Tourist the record will be released on November 20th through Software, the label Lopatin runs with his partner in Ford & Lopatin, Joel Ford. It’s the first in a new series for the label called SSTUDIOS, whose aim is to bring together electronic artists to collaborate on joint works. The duo met up with the intention of improvising, and "designed a sound palette from the acoustic resonance of digitally-sourced ‘Instruments of the World." Judging by the studio shot above, herbal relaxants may well have been involved.
