LISTEN: Coil – Backwards

Cold Spring release this October

While the wait for a full series of Coil reissues stretches on, Cold Spring have announced that they’re to give some temporary reprieve to thirsty ears with the release of Backwards, the project started in 1992 after Love’s Secret Domain. Over two decades since the project was started, former Coil member Danny Hyde is teaming up with Cold Spring to release a new version of the record. Cold Spring inform that "Differing substantially from the later, remixed incarnation, The New Backwards (2008), Backwards contains the original versions of Coil’s much-loved tracks; ‘A Cold Cell’ and ‘Fire Of The Mind’, which have appeared on various compilations over the years, and are now presented as originally intended." You can listen to three tracks from Backwards above. Last year Cold Spring released Coil’s wonderful remixes of Nine Inch Nails – read Trent Reznor discussing that here.

Says Danny Hyde, "This album is the essential bridge between LSD< and the later Musik To Play In The Dark series. It is an essential conduit, to understand the journey that was taken. It was to be released… it should have been released… but because of issues with grey men it wasn’t. It is now, so enjoy."

Backwards will come in digipak CD and double LP gatefold – preorder here.
