Mute have announced that they will be releasing Can: The Lost Tapes as a five-disc vinyl box set on December 3, in addition to its current CD release, due to phenomenal demand.
The collection of previously unreleased material, comprising live recordings, tracks that didn’t make the final cut on studio albums and soundtrack work for shelved films from between 1968 to 1977, is the end result of a mammoth project conducted by the band’s Irmin Schmidt and Jono Podmore, who sifted through 50 hours’ worth of material from sets of tapes originally found when the German Rock N Pop Museum bought Can’s Weilerswist studio.
