On 25th June, Strut and are set to release a weighty package of underground dance music from the late eighties to early nineties, entitled This Ain’t Chicago: The Underground Sound of Underground UK House & Acid 1987-1991. Compiled by Richard Sen and focusing on the time period when mutations of Chicago house were beginning to arrive in the UK from across the Atlantic and beginning to morph into our own distinct sound, it draws for a whole range of music, from underground hits to rarer, lesser known tracks, and tunes from the likes of Baby Ford, A Guy Called Gerald, Julian Jonah and Bang The Party.

Following on from the release of the compilation, Strut are also set to release a limited 12" on 23rd July featuring extra tracks, headed up with a stunning mix of Bang The Party’s ‘Bang Bang You’re Mine’ (the original of which opens the first disc of This Ain’t Chicago) by disco legend Tom Moulton. Largely credited with being one of the inventors of the remix, Moulton was a crucial figure in the emergence of longform disco tracks and continuous club mixing. We’re very pleased to be able to offer an advance stream of the track – listen via the embed below.

Says Bang The Party’s Leslie Lawrence of the remix: "Tom did this for us around the time of the original release and it’s basically constructed from three different mixes of the track: the Vocal Remix, the Vocal Dub and the Drum Dub. He threads it all together as only he knows how."

Also included on the limited 12" are May’s ‘Love Me Baby’ and an edit of K.C.C’s ‘Future III’ by This Ain’t Chicago compiler Richard Sen.

The launch party for the compilation takes place at Westbourne Studios on June 30th, in conjunction with the opening of Dave Swindells’ photograph exhibition ‘A Little Summer Of Love’. It features a rather impressive line up – A Guy Called Gerald performing ‘Voodoo Ray’ live, alongside Delirium’s Noel Watson, Paris’ Acid Ball (Hannah Holland & Dan Beaumont), Kid Batchelor (Bang The Party), Richard Sen and more. It runs from 7pm-2:30am and is free before 9pm.
