Lily Allen Upset At Mercury Snub

But singer is backing La Roux to win gong

Pop sensation Lily Allen is upset that she wasn’t nominated for this year’s Mercury Music Prize.

Allen’s It’s Not Me, It’s You didn’t make the shortlist for this year’s award, leading the singer to post on her Twitter account: "im like gazza, the judges hate me, but the people, dem love me ….. (sic)"

Gazza – or Paul Gascoigne – actually won numerous prizes in his career including the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1990 and the Scottish Football Writers’ Player of the Year in 1996, but frankly, The Quietus is in full support of anyone who wishes to vent steam after their album was passed over in favour of Florence and the Machine.

Allen also pledged her support flame-haired songstress La Roux, who provided support for Allen’s UK tour earlier this year, adding: "i hope La Roux wins. (sic)"
