Light In The Attic Announces Japanese Pop Compilation

Pacific Breeze is a forthcoming collection of '70s and '80s Japanese pop from artists like Haruomi Hosono and Hiroshi Sato

Light In The Attic has announced a new compilation collecting Japanese City Pop from the ’70s and ’80s.

Titled Pacific Breeze: Japanese City Pop, AOR & Boogie 1976-1986, the compilation is the first fully-licensed collection of Japanese City Pop outside of the country. It takes in music from a number of notable Japanese composers such as Haruomi Hosono, Hiroshi Sato and Yukihiro Takahashi, amongst others.

The compilation will come with a specially commissioned cover painting by Tokyo-based artist Hiroshi Nagai, who provided art for a number of records during the period covered on the release. It’s due out on May 3 and can be pre-ordered here, where you can also check a full tracklist. Listen to Haruomi Hosono’s track ‘Sports Men’, which features on the compilation, above.
