Light In The Attic Details New Collection Of Japanese City Pop

The three members of Yellow Magic Orchestra take up various producer and musician roles across a number of the tracks

Light In The Attic is releasing a third instalment in its much-loved compilation series, Pacific Breeze, devoted to Japanese city pop.

The latest record, Pacific Breeze 3: Japanese City Pop, AOR & Boogie 1975-1987, takes in 16 tracks in total covering techno-pop, funk and reggae, among other sounds. The three members of Yellow Magic Orchestra – Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi – take up varying producer and musician roles on a number of the cuts. The release, which you can read about in more detail via Light In The Attic’s website, pushes "the boundaries of [Japanese city pop] and offer[s] glimmers of the next waves of music, including Shibuya-kei, hip-hop, and electro," according to the label.

Light In The Attic will release Pacific Breeze 3: Japanese City Pop, AOR & Boogie 1975-1987 on February 24, 2023.
