The event series LifeLines is back from September 3-6, held at House Of The World Cultures in Berlin. Taking place at irregular intervals since 2009, the series aims to introduce new audiences to the work of important artists and seeks to challenge the cultural hegemony imposed by Europe and North America. Visitors to the events can look forward to artists from a wide-range of genres (including the visual arts, poetry, music and cinema) with concerts, readings, film screenings and lectures making up the programme.
Up until now, musicians Hugh Masekela and Ruben Rada have been the focus of LifeLines. This year, however, LifeLines features pianist and electronic artist Hans-Joachim Roedelius who is widely considered to have influenced musicians worldwide including Brian Eno. During the event, Roedelius will take to the stage with Qluster (among others) and will exhibit his collaborations with Lloyd Cole, Stefan Schneider, Christopher Chaplin, Christoph Müller and Arnold Kasar. What’s more, the event will also feature several sculptures created by Roedelius, situated alongside vintage concert posters and magazines.
