Licence Payers’ Cash In Doherty’s Pockets?

BBC commission Peter to pen ‘Skins-style’ drama, according to The Sun

Peter Doherty has apparently been asked by the BBC to write a television drama series.

The former Libertine and Babyshambles man is already scrawling ideas for a pilot episode, according to Our Nation’s pamphlet of utmost repute The Sun.

“They’ve commissioned him to write a Skins-style show on the dark side of the music industry,” a source is quoted as saying.

“They want a pilot episode written in the next six weeks which will become a series, if he can come up with the goods.

“Beeb bosses think Pete has a creative streak that will produce some gritty TV.”

Gritty? The Quietus was thinking more along the lines of Ealing Comedy.

“He’s seen it all as a hell-raising rock star,” continues the increasingly banal source, “so they want his experiences written in.”

Doherty turned 30 and released new album Grace / Wastelands earlier this month – read The Quietus review here.
