Le Guess Who? has launched a fundraising campaign in order to help secure the festival’s future going forward.
Citing rising costs, inflation and increasingly costly and complex visa processes for the artists booked to play at the event, the festival said it needs help to stay afloat. “For almost 20 years, Le Guess Who? has been a sanctuary for adventurous music from all over the world, bringing people together through the power of sound,” a statement shared via Instagram said. “The current financial challenges we’re experiencing are making our mission harder to achieve.”
The festival’s statement continued: “LGW? was built on values of independence and without the goal of making a profit. This has allowed us to take risks, platform the unheard and create space for deep, human connection that transcends borders and algorithms.”
Le Guess Who?’s organisers are calling on those who can support the festival with its mission to support them by making a monthly donation. They added that it “will go directly into sustaining our ability to experiment and platform the most forward-thinking artists around”. In return, they added, supporters will receive benefits that will deepen their musical discovery and build a closer connection to the team who put the festival on.
Concluding its statement, Le Guess Who? said: “Our independence is one of our most important values. We need your help to protect it – and to secure the future of the festival that we all cherish so deeply.”
