Lauryn Hill To Mark LP Anniversary With Tour

Lauryn Hill is set to mark the 20th anniversary of her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill LP with a UK and Ireland tour later this year

Lauryn Hill has announced five UK and Ireland arena dates for later this year to mark the 20th anniversary of her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

The album originally saw release in August of 1998 and remains her only solo studio album, having been produced in the wake of her time as part of The Fugees.

Hill has continued to tour in the years since the album’s release. Her last tour of the UK, in 2014, however, was met with widely negative reviews, owing to Hill being late on stage and obscure, alternative arrangements of tracks from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

She will precede the tour with a run of shows in the US to mark the album’s anniversary. Announcing that tour, Hill said: "This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the ;ove and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm."

The UK and Ireland tour tour begins at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on November 23, taking in further dates at Manchester Arena (November 26), Birmingham Arena (November 23), Dublin’s 3Arena (November 30) and finallly London’s O2 Arena (December 1).
