As we previously reported, James Brooks (formerly of Appliance) is set to release his debut LP as Land Observations through Mute next week (September 3rd). In advance of Roman Roads IV-XI‘s release, we’re pleased to be able to offer you a sneak peek at the entire album, via the streaming embed below.
The album finds Brooks folding together his interests in music and art – both sound and visual – into a loosely conceptual creation that’s based around the topography and psychogeography of particular Roman roads that stretch from London toward the rest of the UK. That might sound dry, but practically it turns out rather well – the idea is that its instrumentals evoke thoughts around travel and its relation to ideas of past and future.
