LISTEN: Lakker – Mountain Divide

Bracing, ecstatic new single from R&S duo

Electronics duo Lakker continue on their ascendant path with a new 12" on R&S. Out on October 13 on vinyl and download, we’ve got a first play of A-side, ‘Mountain Divide’. The track’s one of their finest yet, a deft piece of slow structural build: there’s a dull dread in the syncopated beats that open, but over them arc spiralling, euphoric lines, a collision of caustic fizz, submerged voices and frenetic drum machines. Nods to the kind of rave-happy work that Ian McDonnell, one half of the pair, makes under his Eomac guise, follow, segueing into a final crescendo constantly striving for some higher plane; the sound of, in Lakker’s words, "screaming into the wind on the top of a mountain". Listen above, head to R&S on release and keep your fingers crossed for more.
