Laibach to Release Updated Version of ‘Opus Dei’

The band have revisited their 1987 album to produce a collection of new versions of its tracks

Laibach are releasing a new version of their album, Opus Dei.

Due out in December, Opus Dei Revisited sees the Slovenian band return to what was their first full-length record for Mute to present two distinct, new versions of the original work.

The first of those is a reworking by Laibach themselves, which was made for their current Opus Dei Revisited Tour, and refined in the studio following the first phase of those live shows. The second sees Rico Conning, who produced and mixed the original album, return to put his own new take on the record. He was given an open brief to explore new territories with the original master tapes, according to a press release.

You can listen to the first taste of Conning’s new take on Opus Dei via the lead track ‘Geburt einer Nation (Rico Conning’s Inner Ear RMX 2024)’ below.

The release of Opus Dei Revisited follows the May reissue of the original remastered album.

Mute will release Opus Dei Revisited on December 13, 2024.
