Lady Gaga Blasts NME

Cross at being branded "pretentious" by music rag

‘Pretentious’ is one of those words thrown around the internet with reckless abandon – duck! There’s another! Just behind a megalolz and a picture of a fluffy kitten. NME jumped on the pretentious jamwagon with a recent post listing the most pretentious albums of all time, a curious mixture of Lou Reed (in both Loutallica and Metal Machine Music guises, Transvision Vamp (for Little Magnets Versus The Bubble Of Babble) and Mansun’s proto-Muse Six. Topping the bill, oddly, was Lady Gaga for last year’s motorbikin’ Eurotrash smash, Born This Way. The star subsequently went on Twitter to vent at the magazine, saying "Oh the irony of winning "Most Pretentious Album Ever" from none other than NME. eyeroll I might laugh forever + then return to narcissism." Irony? Is this a Morissetian misunderstanding of the word?
