L’Rain Unveils New Album, ‘I Killed Your Dog’

It follows her 2021 tQ favourite record, 'Fatigue'

L’Rain has shared details of her third studio album, I Killed Your Dog.

Due out in October, it marks the US artist’s second album for Mexican Summer and follows on from her 2021 breakthrough record, Fatigue, which featured among tQ’s favourite albums of that year. L’Rain, real name Taja Cheek, described I Killed Your Dog as an "anti-break-up" record in a statement. "I’m envisioning a world of contradictions, as always," she added. "Sensual, maybe even sexy, but terrifying, and strange."

To mark the album’s announcement, Cheek has shared a video for lead cut ‘Pet Rock’, which you can watch above. The track itself recalls an urban legend story of a corpse on a train, propped up by her murderers with sunglasses on to blend in with passengers, who continue their commute completely unaware of a dead body in their presence.

Mexican Summer will release I Killed Your Dog on October 13, 2023.
