LISTEN: New Knifeworld Track

First spin of Destroy The World We Love from forthcoming second LP The Unravelling; band playing UK dates in September

Knifeworld, the "bubblegum prog" eight-piece collective led by Cardiacs and Gong man Kavus Torabi, last month announced the release of their second album, The Unravelling. The follow-up to 2009’s Buried Alone: Tales Of Crushing Defeat will be released on their new label InsideOutMusic on July 21, and the band have given us a taster of the record with ‘Destroy The World We Love’.

How does it sound? We’ll let Torabi fill you in: "Initially I wanted to do a glam stomp, something that had a kind of T. Rex and Roxy Music vibe, so we dressed it up in stack-heels and satin, sprinkled glitter all over its beautiful face and hung up a mirror ball, but as we were tying a feather boa around its neck, it started to grow wings, hooves and a tail and bolted off. It was as much as all we could do to saddle up and follow in its wake. We had no idea where it was going. It charged on through towns painted in strange vibrating colours where no man dare speak their name and where all the birds fly upside down. When it finally got to wherever the hell it ended up we took off our goggles, looked back and realised we’d inadvertently spawned a sort of psychedelic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’." Take a listen above.

The album will be out on vinyl, download and limited edition CD and will include ‘Don’t Land On Me’, the video for which we got a look at last year. Have a watch of that at the foot of the piece, following the dates for the band’s three shows in autumn:
