Kevin Richard Martin and KMRU Collaborate on New LP, ‘Disconnect’

It marks the first time the two artists have released music they've made together

Kevin Richard Martin, AKA The Bug, and KMRU have teamed up for a new collaborative album, titled Disconnect.

Spanning six tracks, the record came about after the two connected via social media over a mutual enjoyment of each other’s music. It marks the first time the two artists have collaborated with each other on record, and sees KMRU, real name Joseph Kamaru, contribute his own spoken word vocals in a break with past material. You can listen to lead track ‘Differ’ to get a taste of the album below.

In a statement, Martin said he first became aware of KMRU’s work via the short 2020 documentary Under The Bridge, adding: “Aside from immediately finding Joseph’s approach to sound and music so instantly impressive, I also found his spoken voice possessed a captivating, lilting, tonal quality, with his soft-spoken accent. I think I surprised Joseph by suggesting he contributes vocals.”

Phantom Limb will release Disconnect on June 14, 2024.
