Kevin Martin has announced a new album, his first under his real name.
Set for release via Lawrence English’s Room40 label, Sirens "documents the intensities surrounding the delivery and early days of [Martin]’s first child," according to the press release. Martin’s wife, it further explains, underwent emergency procedures during the birth, while his son had to have "life-threatening operations" in the days following.
Martin previously presented Sirens as a live show at Berlin’s CTM festival in 2015. Lawrence English attended that show and asked Martin if he could release the material via his label, though the label clarifies that there are some differences between the live and recorded material. Room40 is set to release Sirens on June 7.
