Kendrick Lamar receives Pulitzer Prize for music for his 2017 album DAMN.

Kendrick Lamar has been awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for music for his 2017 album DAMN.

The news was announced on the Pulitzer Prize’s website, which describes the album as "a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life".

The win makes DAMN. the first non-jazz or non-classical record to ever win the award.
