It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Jupiter-C, but it sounds like that was time well spent. The London-based minimalist pop duo of Ashiya Eastwood and David Kane have just unveiled ‘Locust’, the B-side to a new single, ‘The Process’, they’re releasing next month. Corroded electronics and circular guitar drone are wed to a keening chorus synth hook and sepulchral vocals on the track, which the duo explain takes "Kylie Minogue and Swans as its starting point", an avenue we can only hope more would pursue – give it a listen above. The single will be out on April 13, available digitally via Bandcamp and on cassette through Ramber Records, and keep an eye out for a video for ‘The Process’ ahead of release.
To mark the single, the band will be playing a launch gig at London’s Apiary Studios. Get hold of tickets here and you’ll be in for "a night of accelerating drone and noise" aided and abetted by Matt Loveridge, aka Fairhorns and one third of Beak>, performing under his MXLX guise and the Quietus’ own Hamburger Ladies, licensed purveyors of Angst Music For Sex People. Take a look at the gig poster below and revisit our interview with the band as a primer here.
