Julia Holter Releases New Single, ‘The Laugh Is In The Eyes’

The track was written amid the same studio sessions that birthed latest album Something In The Room She Moves

Julia Holter has released a new standalone single, titled ‘The Laugh Is In The Eyes’.

The track was written and recorded during the same studio sessions that birthed the artist’s latest album, Something In The Room She Moves, which was released in March of this year. The song takes its title from a lyric from the LP’s lead single, ‘Spinning’.

In a press statement, Holter said ‘The Laugh Is In The Eyes’ shares Something In The Room She Moves‘ “devotion to transformation and bodily senses”, and added: “There’s a loopy restlessness, a rhythmic five-ness alongside a four-ness, a circle and a square. Like in the song ‘Spinning’, a surprise awakening awaits in the state of ‘night’ – from stagnancy to the anticipation of flowers, flutes, feeling.”

You can listen to ‘The Laugh Is In The Eyes’ below.

The new cut has been released to coincide with the beginning of Holter’s UK and European tour, which kicks off in Braga on November 17 and continues into December. Find the full list of dates here.

‘The Laugh Is In The Eyes’ is out now on Domino.
