Julia Holter Details New LP, ‘Something In The Room She Moves’

Holter describes the forthcoming record as "fluid-sounding" and "waterlike"

Julia Holter has shared details of her sixth studio album, Something In The Room She Moves.

Spanning 10 tracks, Holter’s follow-up to 2018’s Aviary has “a corporeal focus,” the artist said herself in a statement, adding that it was “inspired by the complexity and transformability of our bodies.” Holter also said that she was “trying to create a world that’s fluid-sounding, waterlike, evoking the body’s internal sound world” on the forthcoming record.

To mark the album’s announcement, the artist has shared a video for new track ‘Spinning’, which you can watch below. The song, Holter said, is “about being in the passionate state of making something: being in that moment, and what is that moment?” It follows on from recent single ‘Sun Girl’, which opens Something In The Room She Moves.

Domino will release Something In The Room She Moves on March 22, 2024.
