In case you haven’t heard it already, the John Spencer Blues Explosion released a crunching, wailing Beastie Boys/Link Wray mash-up on Record Store Day this year. ‘She’s On It - Jack The Ripper’ has long been a staple of the band’s live set and you can hear it in all its old school glory in a new free download offered by the band.
The release is a live recording of the track from a 2012 performance in Japan and is accompanied by a montage-style video of the band performing across several different appearances – have a watch at the foot of the piece. The download is a new mix, different from the one featured on the 300-copy limited run RSD release, which was done earlier this month – get hold of it by joining the band’s "new secret record club" in exchange for an e-mail address and look forward to "only the best, most choice cuts – straight from the Blues Explosion ovens" coming your way.
The band recently did some recording in NYC – presumably working on the impending follow up to 2012’s excellent Meat And Bone – and are currently rolling about the UK/Ireland on a tour, playing The Black Box in Belfast tomorrow, May 13, before absconding to the mainland for a slew of more dates.
