LISTEN: Jon Hopkins’ How I Live Now Score

Excerpts from Hopkins' soundtrack work on upcoming film

Following on from this year’s album Immunity, one of our favourites of the year so far, Jon Hopkins has scored the music for Kevin Macdonald’s 21st-century world war drama, How I Live Now, which gets released on Friday, October 4.

For the soundtrack, released on October 14 via Just Music, he’s collaborated with Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan on the song ‘Garden’s Heart’ – have a watch of the Khan-directed video below – as well as continuing some of the excellent double-edged work found on Immunity. We’ve got a first play of some excerpts from the score, which has Hopkins placing ominous, tectonic shift sonics and scything digital matter side-by-side with plaintive, close-feeling piano.
