Chromatics’ Johnny Jewel has surprise released a new album called Themes For Television. Above, you can watch a video for lead track ‘Red Door’, a two-minute beatless cut of gorgeous, cinematic synths much in the vein of Jewel’s past work.
You can stream the album in full just below which is out now digitally and set for a physical release via Italians Do It Better on June 29.
The album’s beginnings come from Chromatics’ involvement in the third series of Twin Peaks last year, which saw the group contribute music and perform at the Roadhouse in one episode. Themes For Television is described as an "epic from the cutting room floor".
Jewel explains: "The project began as a sonic exploration of the sounds I was hearing in my nightmares. I wanted to find my way out of the maze by focusing on beauty over fear – like the way the fractured sunrise looks in a dream.
Jewel produced six hours of material for the album. The 21 tracks that comprise Themes For Television have been culled from that prolific streak of inspiration, and later sequenced and edited last winter in Tokyo.
