Over the last few weeks, we’ve been dabbling in the veritable ocean that is John Peel’s digitised record collection, with the first 100 of each letter from A to E going online at The Space each week for careful browsing. So far we’ve sent two of our writers mad trying to absorb and digest these vast tracts of musical knowledge, and discovered a whole range of obscure and amusingly named delights, from à ;Grumh and A.E.Bizottsag to Ed Gein’s Car and England Dan.
This week it’s the turn of ‘F’. So rather than turning on the TV and gawping through a succession of expensive cars, flowers and paper Union Jacks being waved around, why not skim through and have a listen to the likes of Fabien, Fad Gadget and Fairmont? Notable inclusions in this segment: great swathes of music from John Fahey and Fairport Convention, which between them take up about a third of its entire length.
