John Maus’ First New Album In Six Years

John Maus will release a new album, his first in six years, this October, while another will follow next spring

John Maus has announced the upcoming release of two new albums with the first due in October.

Entitled Screen Memories, the album is his first in six years. Above, you can check out lead track ‘The Combine’, a twinkling cut built around Maus’ typically mumbled vocals and starry synths.

The new record arrives off the back of Maus’ last album, We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves, released in 2011, with the only other material from him arriving the following year in the form of a rarities compilation.

Screen Memories was recorded and engineered by Maus himself in his Minnesota home with many of the sounds featured created by modular synths that he built himself. Its release will be followed next spring by a 6 x LP box set release featuring Maus’ entire discography, including Screen Memories, a number of out of print albums and a completely new album titled Addendum.

Screen Memories is out on October 27 via Ribbon Music.
