LISTEN: Oh The Gilt Remix John Foxx

Quietus Johns Doran and Tatlock rework John Foxx's 'Underpass' for Record Store Day

The Quietus’ John Doran and John Tatlock, working under their Oh The Gilt guise, were tasked with remixing John Foxx’s synth pop classic ‘Underpass’, from his first solo album, 1980’s Metamatic. Their version is coming out on 12" vinyl for Record Store Day (April 20, via Metamatic) – have a listen below:

Oh The Gilt strip almost everything out of the original bar the vocals bringing Foxxy to the forefront, turning it into a sleek, moody, acidic EBM epic.

Oh The Gilt already have another remix coming out on wax this month; their version of East India Youth’s ‘Heaven, How Long’ is on the B side of the Hostel EP.

The release’s other remix is the ‘Underpass_Unsubscribe Remake’ by Dave Clarke & Mr Jones, with artwork — have a look below — by Jonathan Barnbrook, last seen drawing up the cover for David Bowie’s The Next Day. Copies are limited to just 500 hand-stamped 12"s, so if you want one, get lively.
