After exhaustively spanning the UK over much of May alongside Arabrot’s Kjetil Nernes for the Jolly Lad Book Tour, tQ’s John Doran will launch the book next week (Wednesday, June 24 to be exact) at Foyles’ flagship London store.
On the night, John will be joined by Grumbling Fur who will perform an exclusive set while tQ DJs Hamburger Ladies will also play music between readings and sets, so you can call it a bit of a family affair. John will be reading from the book on the night while David Stubbs, author of Future Days: Krautrock And The Building Of Modern Germany and Fear Of Music: Why People Get Rothko But Don’t Get Stockhausen, will host a Q&A with Doran. Tickets for the night are priced at £5 and can be found here, as well as more details on the launch. Adapted from his long-running VICE column, MENK, Jolly Lad showcases a number of Doran’s life stories, offering very personal takes on alcoholism, mental health and adulthood – it’s available to buy now.
