Last night saw tQ editor John Doran take the reins of BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction show for the evening. You can listen to the full show here.
Doran, in terms of overall presentability, haircut and verbal coherence, let the side down when compared to that week’s other guest presenters, Keiran Hebden (Tuesday) and Jane Weaver (Thursday) but he did play tracks by Ayla Algan, Sam Andreae, V Ä L V Ē, Zimpel/Ziolek, Xynfonica, PER NØRGÅRD, Bohman, Bohman, Ghikas, Thomas, Dean Hurley, Meemo Comma, Mattin, Kwana Kambambi, Sajida Obeid, Eloïse Decazes & Eric Chenaux, L. Winter and The Caretaker.
Doran – pictured above suffering from jaundice and tucking into a baguette that only he can see – somehow found time to indulge in an idiotic attempt to throw shade at both dungeon synth and Schoenberg. What more could you want?
Did he play any NOMEANSNO? It remains to be seen*.
(*No it doesn’t. He did play some NOMEANSNO.)
