John Coltrane’s ‘Giant Steps’ Gets Reissue For 60th Anniversary

The newly remastered album will be presented alongside eight alternate takes of the record's tracks

John Coltrane’s 1960 album Giant Steps is being reissued for its 60th anniversary.

Alongside a new remaster of the original album’s seven tracks, eight remastered alternate takes of the songs will also be added to the deluxe edition release, which will be released across two CDs and four sides of vinyl.

There will also be a super deluxe anniversary edition presented on CD, taking in the full remastered album alongside all 28 of its surviving sessions outtakes. You can watch a trailer for the two releases above.

The releases will come packaged in a replica of the original sleeve and labels used for the album’s first stereo pressing, while there will also be a booklet included in the package, featuring photos, never-before-seen images of Atlantic Records ephemera, original liner notes and new liner notes.

Rhino will release Giant Steps: 60th Anniversary Deluxe Edition and Giant Steps: 60th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition on September 18, 2020.
