Unsound has shared the first wave of acts playing its New York City event this October into November.
Taking place across a 13-day period, the programming will be split mainly across two venues: Progress Works and the Lincoln Center.
The festival will feature a new show from John Cale, dubbed ‘Steam On Glass – evolving sound clouds’, which is set to explore noise, improv and experimentation while tracing the artist’s New York City lineage. He will showcase his vast discography of songs as part of the performance. Support for that performance will come from Heinali and vocalist Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko, who released the album Гільдеґарда (Hildergard) via Unsound’s label earlier this year.
Lucrecia Dalt is also set to play songs from her new album A Danger To Ourselves during the festival. She’ll perform as part of a bill that also includes the Sinfonietta Cracovia, who will play a new work by Polish composer Aleksandra Słyż as well as new and old music by Mica Levi.
Further lineup highlights include performances from Piotr Kurek, Hania Rani (as Chilling Bambino) and RP Boo. The latter will play alongside Łódź-based drummer Gary Gwadera, who reimagined footwork through the prism of Polish folk traditions on his album Far, Far In Chicago. Together they will present a new show called The Birth Of Footberk.
Further acts will be added to the bill in the coming weeks.
Unsound’s flagship event in Kraków takes place from October 7 to 12, with the likes of caroline, billy woods, Moin, Joan La Barbara, YHWH Nailgun, Nazar, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Purelink, Kara-Lis Coverdale and Tashi Dorji on the lineup.
