Jlin Soundtracks New Video Game

The soundtrack commission came about from a Manchester International Festival project

Jlin has composed 10 tracks to soundtrack a new video game. Find a teaser for the game, featuring a snippet of one of those tracks, above.

The producer’s soundtrack for Songs of the Lost is part of a Manchester International Festival commission. The game, which has been produced by Canadian designer Paloma Dawkins, is described in a press release as a "magical-realist game odyssey through a surreal and absurd digital landscape".

Jlin is one of eight collaborators to be involved in the game. "Everyone is talking about borders these days, and I want to imagine what borders would be like in a post IRL world,’ Dawkins said of her ideas behind the game. You can download it for free here.

As well as working on Songs of the Lost, Jlin also performed live at this year’s Manchester International Festival on a bill curated by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Mary Anne Hobbs. Jlin recently featured on the Nuts and Bolts podcast.
